She spends months inside a box but her light always shines
When she takes her place of honor at Christmas time

She was there way back when it was just me and your ma
Making it all up as we went along
Exchanging love exchanging hurt like they was Christmas gifts
Christmas angel saw devotion and deception like they was working shifts

Pretty Christmas angel saw your Aunt Peg wet herself
Thanks to an off color joke and Harvey’s Bristol Cream
That pretty Christmas angle once stayed up till Valentine’s Day
I didn’t have the heart to take her down after Peg passed away

That pretty little angel was there for your first Christmas
And I think back on it now I kinda feel like you recued me
Cause when I looked into your eyes something clicked inside my soul
And you pulled me up out of a deep dark hole

Now that pretty Christmas angel
You know she’s seen the years come and go
Some things changed some have grown some are just frozen in time
Now me and your ma we’re still a work in progress
One step up and one step back
